La Buffy is an Oxnard-based mixed-media artist who uses their work as a form of advocacy for their local community and self-expression. As the eldest child in a low-income, first-generation household, they navigate the complexities of being disconnected from their roots in the diaspora. While also comedically exploring their interests and lived experiences.
Through their art, La Buffy explores the intersection their identities, two languages, and diverse cultures, creating a space for self-expression that has slowly evolved since their childhood. They believe that art can be used as a measure of storytelling and recording the history of not only themselves but also the history of their community as well.
